Ask the Tropers:
Origin of Freedom City PBP character art? Web Original
Just wondering if anyone knows where the artwork used for characters on this page is from? https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/FreedomCityPlayByPostABC
It's consistent enough that I think it's from some sort of character generator, but I haven't been able to figure it out via googling.
Is it fine to created a whole page of the short horror film created by a popular Youtube duo? Web Original
So I was wondering if I could make the whole page about the short horror film called Rhett and Link's Night of Terror created by well... Rhett & Link since it's interesting and I could think of making a few examples in this upcoming separate work page instead of making sub examples or an additional file on Rhett & Link pages. Don't worry I will go to Get Help With English forum. Also how to edit to put an apposite on the new work name?
Barely anyone editing a character page Web Original
So I have been mainly editing the QSMP character wiki I started to notice that...hey not a lot of other people are editing this page.
I use the notes app on my computer where I write out tropes before I put them on the wiki (as to avoid spelling and grammar errors and also to ensure proper formatting) However it usually takes me a lot of time to write out the full explanation for why said characters fit these tropes.
TV Tropes is suppose to be a collaborative effort, and I know I alone can not fully complete this page. is there a way to list the tropes that the character fits without it showing up on the page? that way either I or someone else could write about said trope when we have the time without it showing up on the list?
Also if anyone else watches the QSMP please help me I am in over my head doing this alone!
Huge likely AutoEroticTroping violation Web Original
I originally posted this in the roleplay cleanup, but between its inactivity and the first time I've seen a potential AET violation of this scale, I thought I'd take it here instead for more immediate discussion.
Roleplay.Errorverse was created by High Speed Troper on August 28th, and they've managed to crank out a lot of dense subpages and trope sections since.
The problem, however, is that there is no evidence Errorverse as a work exists on the internet, and the authors appear to be using this wiki as a primary host for it. Googling the title returns only the unrelated Undertale AU, this website, and a Tumblr post by Pico Digital Studios (one of the authors) announcing the creation of the page as if it was its own work (along with the possibility that it might have been worked on offline for several years.)
With all of the above in consideration, I have reason to believe HighSpeedTroper is either Pico Digital Studios, coauthor MCGameJolter, or someone acting on their behalf. As they are the sole editor of every subpage for Errorverse, this would mean they are not only breaking verifiability rules, but have also committed Auto-Erotic Troping on an unprecedented scale.
I have PM'd them asking for links to any recap or supplementary material that could justify creating the original work page, but I have yet to receive a response.
Creation of Hellaverse page? Web Original
So the official Twitter page for Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss updates has the handle "Hellaverse", indicating that's the shared universe's official name. So can I make a page for it or do we need something more concrete?
Weird looking Awesome page. Web Original
I was reading Google's page when I went to its Awesome moments page and found that it looks weird. The right hand menu bar (the one with the Ask The Tropers, Reviews and other links) doesn't appear and it ends so suddenly. Wonder what's going on.
Odd Indexing Web Original
The Freshy Kanal page seem to have a problem. It is indexed on the main page, but if you click on Related, it'll show you that it's only linked the Shout-Out page for Web Video.
Can't make meme page Web Original
Hello, might be a silly question but I am trying to make a meme page but I can not figure out how to do so. I don't see a meme option under the create new page and I cant find anything about how to make one on this website. Do I need specific permissions? Help?
What category is this? Web Original
There's a pretty obscure story (which I believe is allowed if I read the rules right) that is being released weekly online (not fanfiction, original online literature) that I would like to make a works page for, is this put in web original or some other category?
Recreating illymations' Page Web Original
If illy's page were to have at least ten tropes and a more detailed description, would it be safe to recreate?
SML Web Original
For the recap page of SuperMarioLogan or SML, for any of the pages for the videos the image can be the thumbnail. For the SBL videos, the thumbnails started off by using the Nintendo plushes and are currently replaced with the human puppets. For those pages, should I use the old thumbnail or the new one? Here’s an example of what I’m saying: https://sml.fandom.com/wiki/Jeffy_and_Junior%27s_Big_Heist!
spoiler bar Web Original
Hello! So, I just joined yesterday and am trying to Edit in a character page that's supposed to have the name in spoilers, but I can't seem to make it work, and I can't understand the official guide... Anyone got any tips?
Moving Mario Does Things to new name. Web Original
Given that Mario Does Things has been renamed SMG4 Crew, I think it's time to move everything over to SMG4 Crew
Machinima to Web Animation Page Redirect Web Original
The Machinima namespace was deprecated in favor of just Web Animation recently, so the main "Machinima" pages have been moved to Web Animation/ etc.
Searching for a machinima that was using it before (eg. Smash King) will bring me to the Machinima namespace rather than the web animation one. Is it alright to make a page for those that hosted a Machinima namespace and have it re-direct to Web Animation?
eg. make Smash King as a page to redirect to Smash King?
Unnecessary space? Web Original
I don't want to risk starting an edit war by just editing it, but the space added in between the '' and the title of https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Fanfic.ChildrenOfAnElderGod#edit37686314 strikes me as a bit unnecessary.
Troper making low-quality edits to pages Web Original
King Susie Pen has been active since May 2023, but their edit history shows up as many instances of them making low-quality edits to pages they already made.
- Empty folders in character page, which I'm very sure isn't allowed.
- Does this count as speculative troping even though they're (supposedly) the creator of the series?
- ZCEs in the Nightmare Face entry.
- Misuse of a trope.
Stub character page Web Original
The Painter has a bunch of folders for various characters, but only a few of them have any entries and most just have a "TBA" notice or nothing. I've been keeping an eye on it periodically for a few weeks to see if it got filled out since it's a newish page, but it seems like it's not happening anytime soon. Should it be cut listed, or should the content-less folders just be hidden or removed until they get expanded?
A Humble Request Web Original
So I had a subpage called Lazy Days where I was adding tropes to some original characters for a story I had developed. Since it was for an unpublished work and wasn't Darth Wiki, it got scrapped by the tropers.
This is perfectly understandable to me; I knew that I was risking an outcome like this from the very start. Following the rules of this site, I understand that what I did was foolhardy. I apologize. But I did have a lot of character nuances, traits, and developments on this page that I'm afraid may have just been scrubbed from the internet completely, on top of a good chunk of my time having now gone to waste.
I was wondering if there is a way to recover the page for a brief time so that I can copy and paste all of the valuable character information onto a Google Doc. It will have no further affiliation with TV Tropes.
Thank you for your time.
Possible edit war over complaining sub-bullet Web Original
On the YMMV page for Jimquisition, there is a back-and-forth over a rather complain-y sub-bullet on Too Bleak, Stopped Caring involving Savage Blood Dragon.
At first, they added the sub-bullet near the end of June and went on to add minor tweaks. Then Spectral Time altered the sub-bullet in what looks to me like a response to the complain-y tone of the sub-bullet (at the very least, I really think the edit reason could have been better), and then SavageBloodDragon altered the bullet to lean back towards the previous complaining, pushing the example towards the previous "attacking gamers as a whole" narrative that the sub-bullet started off with.

Would this count as an EditWar? Web Original
On Sep 5th 2021, I removed the Trope Informed Wrongness from the YMMV page of the fifth episode of Helluva Boss, due to said entry being Trope Misuse as a result of misconstruing the events of the episode.
On Dec 30th 2022, jOSEFdelaville added Informed Wrongness to the page again, but with a different entry. I believe this is also an example of misuse that misconstrues the events of the episode, as Millie wasn't the one who brought up the fact Moxxie had a gun, Moxxie himself did. Millie only said he didn't need to prove he was stronger physically after he lamented not being strong enough, saying basically to stick to his strengths when facing him this time. Moxxie was the one who said "I probably should have used this earlier, huh?" after remembering he had a gun on him, Millie's reaction being more exasperation when she sees him remember and make the comment. "I love ya hon, but for fucks sake."
Would it count as an Edit War if I removed the trope since I had already removed Informed Wrongness once before, even if it was a different entry?
