Gotta agree here.

I don't think any Zelda game is Low Fantasy, and certainly not this one. The entire premise of Majora's Mask is magic-dependent.

I also agree. Definitely not an example of Low Fantasy.

I agree. Unfortunately, Low Fantasy is very poorly defined and attracts a lot of misuse because of it.

A while back, I had to delete a mention of Skyrim being Low Fantasy. You know, the game where you have the soul of a dragon and can cause powerful magic effects by shouting really loud, that involves a distinct, traversable afterlife, time travel, a wizard's college, and you can interact with over a dozen gods.

Some people like to use Low Fantasy as a badge of honor for whatever misguided reason.

I see. Does this necessitate a cleanup thread on what actually defines Low Fantasy?

That will merit a dedicated venue. When it comes to this specific query, I support removing MM as an example of Low Fantasy in case it hasn't been so already.

Definitely not Low Fantasy. I don't think any game in the series (at least none I know about) would count.

Tangentially related, but do we have a work genre discussion thread?

^ I don't think we do? Usually the discussions are about namespaces, and genres are usually only discussed in their own individual thread if a problem arises.

And to ^^^: By "merit a dedicated venue", what do you mean? Should we open up a trope talk thread first to discuss the definition of Low Fantasy?
